My name is Lauri Wauters, M.D, D.M.D.
I am a double degree Maxillo-Facial surgeon focusing on facial esthetic-, orthognatic and skin cancer surgery.
I trained at the European Face Centre (UZ Brussels) under the world renowned Prof. Maurice Mommaerts.
I first started in the service while still in dental training after I had finished medical school and had the chance to get clinical experience from the start. Next to the clinical work I built up the 3D lab from scratch. I published and lectured about it in international conferences and webinars, standing at the forefront of the digital revolution in facial surgery. Digital planning has become the gold standard in orthognatic surgery.
During my training I did a year long internship in GZA-ZNA in Antwerp under the guidance of fellow female facial surgeon dr. Natalie Loomans who shares the same passion for facial aesthetical surgery. I gained experience in oncological- and reconstructive surgery under the expert guidance of Dr. Gaétan Vandevyvere in the OLV Hospital Aalst at the end of my training. I constantly challenge myself to keep learning, because once you think you know it all, you are already behind !
Maxillo-Facial Surgery is the only medical speciality that covers the whole range of and focuses solely on facial surgery. I knew since I was a kid I wanted to do something creative and something with my hands. I was always busy crafting something. When I had to choose after highschool I was in major doubt since I wanted to do either fashion school either medicine in order to become a surgeon. I’m still happy about my choice and I love my job. I want to make people look and feel like their best self. I stand for natural looking results through meticulous facial analysis and my natural flair for everything beautiful (yes fashion is still a passion, but i also love art, interior decorating and good food).
Non-surgical procedures are an integral part of facial esthetic practice and I use them on their own or in combination with surgical procedures in order to obtain the most beautiful and natural looking results. I constantly keep up with and retrain on new techniques and products in order to give you the best advice possible.
